Blood Magic

Blood magic is a misunderstood and largely unexplored concept in occultism. While there are brave and experienced mages (Sorceress Cagliastro and the magus Seth being two of the pioneers of the subject), there still remains a large collective of the unaware and unenlightened. In this post i will attempt to explain the path of blood sorcery, It’s uses and Clear up some misconceptions.

Warning:
I claim no liability for any harm done to person or property as a result of the acts listed below, by proceeding you take full responsibility for your own actions.
Blood magic IS NOT INTENDED FOR THE INFIRM OR THOSE WITH POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING ILLNESSES, proceed at your own risk.

The path:
What is blood magic?
Blood magic uses one’s own vital fluids and the power held therein to force one’s will into reality. It is often called a “true” sorcery because of it’s lack of outside influence; no gods, no higher powers, just you and your own essence.

Who can practice blood magic?
Unlike the stereotypical “frail", dazed and weak physical state associated with magic users, blood mages strive to maintain good health and a fast metabolism, which can allow one to draw large amounts of blood without too much distress on the body and increase the magical potency of the blood released. However, so long as you have blood and commitment to the work, you too can practice this art.
Note: Blood magic is not intended as an excuse for self desecration, it is a system of logical and precise releases, not crazed fits of self harm for the sake of it.

What does blood magic use?
Aside from the obvious answer, the magus uses small vials to contain blood, Lancets, razors, pins and hypodermic needles (depending on the work at hand), a journal to record one’s workings, a dip stylus and black/red inks, a large supply of linen, cotton or parchment and medical supplies should anything go awry.

Why practice blood magic?
Blood is a renewable resource. Your body makes approximately 40ml a day, which is usually more than what you’ll draw out for a spell. Unlike most energy reserves or places of power (cemeteries, forests, caves, beaches etc) which eventually “dry” over time; your blood will constantly renew itself, allowing an almost infinite source of energy.
In addition, the energy contained within blood is pure and untainted by the world. It pertains to none of the four elements or currents of energy (however an interesting happening occurs when blood is released concerning death energy, something i will cover another time).
Because of it’s “purity”, it’s energies are loyal to their creator (you) and will almost never act against you, unless you yourself prove unable to control even yourself.
Blood magics can accomplish most of what any other magic can, but are focused in causing change in the self, the conjuring and interaction of/with spirits, Healings, hexings concerning disease, ailments and the mental state of your targets. Which makes blood magic a useful path for Necromancers, Vampires (Psy and Sanguine), and healers.

Misconceptions put to rest:
Blood magic is NOT permanent,
however as with any path there are spells that can not be stopped until they fulfil their purpose, this is due to the nature of the spells, not the use of blood.
Blood magic is NOT self harm, no more than drawing blood to study it. Blood magic is a Science, and should be practiced with care and knowledge as all sciences are.
Blood magic is NOT Satanic. To say it is would be to say “reading is Muslim”, “breathing is Jewish” and “eating is Catholic”. There is a divide between religion and practice, it is wise to learn it.
Blood magic is NOT simple the involvement of blood in a spell. Blood magic is it’s own system of magic, which contains it’s own methods of talisman making and spell casting.
Blood magic goes beyond the simple addition of blood in a spell; the true glories of blood magic can only be seen by those who fully submerge themselves into the path and into their own red waters.

How to start?
First one should attain a basic understanding of human biology and the way all our systems work together in order to maintain life.
One should acquire Lancets, razors, pins, vials, linen or cotton fabric, a journal and medical supplies.

Over a period of days, weeks, or even years, one should explore their bodies and the uses of the blood drawn from each area.
In her book “The blood sorcery bible (Vol I)”, Sorceress Cagliastro suggests that one should take samples of several areas, collect the samples onto fabric and onto a journal and take notes on what one feels from each sample. Alternatively, the blood can be smeared onto a skrying glass and the purpose of the blood can be found through a skrying session.

The mage should understand that the metaphysical magnetic properties of blood play a massive part in blood magic. Through it’s magnetism you can draw energy into it, and then release it through the casting of a spell or enacting of a ritual.
Adding and mixing your blood to itself or foreign materials can create interesting and new results, new methods of magic and cause new skills to develop.
Your power will grow and you will slowly learn how a single drop of blood, a motion of the hand and a thought can cause massive shifts in the world around you. Your mind, body and will shall coagulate from their current dissolved states, creating alchemical gold. The philosophers stone flows fragmented through your veins as iron, awaiting for you to release it.

Using this knowledge one can now begin to craft their spells. Any outside materials should have some connection to your purpose, symbolic or otherwise.
The blood used should come from a place that is associated with the intent of your spell; the mouth for communication, the leg for movement or change etc. There are no incantations in blood magic. Often your spells are silent events. Burning flaked blood is used as an incense and no oil is used in anointing an object or person, simply blood. Gods are not called to, this is YOUR work, only YOU have power over your blood.

To conclude, i have discussed most of what can be learned through reading to you. It is up to you to learn the rest through trial and error. I wish you all the best of fortune on this path.
