Don’t ever doubt yourself when you are performing one. Don’t pause and wonder “Is this right?” “Do they really deserve this?” That kind of thinking will cause the curse to fail.
Know the exact reasons why you are doing it.
If you know the person can see your activity, simply allude or bluff that you are doing a curse. They’ll overreact and hurt themselves, rather than you wasting energy.
Never, ever, share the big curses you do. They must be secret so that no one else has any opportunity to block or protect themselves. You cannot fight what you cannot see or expect.
Wait to perform a curse until the target is least expecting it. By doing it in the middle of the night or the wee hours of the morning, you are attacking while the target is asleep and cannot actively protect themselves.
If you are religious or they are, there is something you can add to a curse that might work wonders or backfire. By stating in the curse that no divine beings can interfere or save them, you can either get past that divine protection or anger the deities, depending on your wording and attitude.
Following up to that, be sure to state exactly why you are doing this and why you feel the need to. If you can validate your reasons, no one will stop you.
Never keep a curse anchor or the used supplies near you. Once they are used, get rid of them to cut any ties to yourself.
Protect yourself before even thinking about casting a curse. Most people have shields and you need to be ready for a backfire if you trip up.
Do not stop casting in the middle of the curse. Do not stop until you are done. The build up of energy can backfire and harm you if there is nowhere to go. This will call for major energy cleaning.
Cleanse yourself immediately before and after a curse. This will make your energy signature harder to follow or track back to you.
