Using Transmutation to Charge Objects/Sigils

This is my first original post on this blog, and I spent a great deal of time working on it so I appreciate any feedback anyone would like to give!

I recently watched all of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and was transfixed by the imagery and concepts the show introduced me to, especially transmutation circles.  I immediately began thinking of ways to incorporate these into my work and I think I may have solved the main problem I have while working with Sigils: I can never find a method that I feel completely satisfied with when charging them. Rather than transmute physical material as they do in the show, I wanted to focus more on working with different energies.

Above is the basic outline of the transmutation circle I use to charge my sigils.  Here’s a breakdown of the elements of the circle itself, in relation to a sigil I charged recently for the intent “I Will Get The Job I Seek”

Conduits

  • The circles numbered 1 and 2 are conduits, they convert that which is placed onto them into energy that flows along the lines connected to them towards the top of the circle.  I tend to use essential oils for this, as I activate my circles with fire and they burn easily. (Note: Always be careful working with fire.) For the job sigil I used a drop of peppermint oil on conduit 1 and a drop of spearmint oil on conduit 2, as these are associated with prosperity.

The Story

  • The circles numbered 3 through 5 are meant to tell the story of what you hope to accomplish through symbols.  Here’s where you want to look at your intent and think about how it can be summarized in three steps.  Circle 3 shows the kind of reaction you want to stimulate, Circle 4 relates to the object of the action, and Circle 5 relates to the method by which you intend to activate the transmutation. Example: for my job sigil the story I wanted to tell was that I am sparking change (reaction) in my life (object) through fire (method). To represent this I used the alchemical symbol for life/motion as the reaction, the astrological symbol for leo as that’s what I always use to represent myself in my work as the object, and the symbol for fire as the method.

The Support

  • The circles numbered 6 and 7 are meant to house symbols of any other energies you’d like to call on to help you achieve your goal.  I would highly recommend having a physical representation of whatever you decide to use for these to help you connect to and call these energies.  I’m partial to minerals, so I tend to have stones on hand.  For these two I used the symbol for the Sun and the symbol for Mercury.  I use the Sun’s energy in a lot of my work and as a Leo it just felt right enlisting it’s support, especially with fire being the activation method.  I chose Mercury as the other support because it has heavy associations with the mind and thought, which I’d like to spark for the interview.  When the time actually came to charge the sigil I was holding a carnelian palm stone, as it has associations with both the Sun and Mercury.

The Statement of Intent

  • The space between the circles is there to house your statement of intent.  In the model above it just says “place statement of intent here” over and over again, but you can actually put whatever you’d like here; the intent of your sigil, specific instructions for the reaction, etc.  I chose to go with my statement of intent.

Once you’ve got all the parts filled out, line up your sigil with the arrow on top (I drew mine on a piece of Malachite for luck, I am not messing around with trying to get this job lol), ground yourself, get your energies in order, and light it up (or whatever activation method you prefer).  I actually made the electronic version after I had already charged my sigil, so I ended up drawing my circle on a post it as seen below.  Let me know if you’d like a blank copy of the above circle for your own personal use!
